Donna
Blazey is an artist
with a light hearted
view of the simple,
and maybe the not so
simple, challenges of
life. Whether its searching
for a balance in our
hectic lives or observing
a neighbor with a roaring
leaf blower, she creates
a picture with a whimsical
spin. Hopefully it will
brighten your day.
From
crayons to corporate
packaging
Starting with crayons
and coloring books on
the farm outside of
Rochester, New York,
Donna decided on a career
in art. She received
her Bachelors Degree
in Graphic Design &
Illustration from SUNY
College at Buffalo.
Employed at Fisher-Price
Toys, she was first
an Artist in Research
and Development creating
marker renderings of
the next new line of
toys, indicating numerous
color combinations and
an infinite variety
of accents and decoration.
With a move to the Advertising
Department in the corporate
headquarters, Donna
designed promotional
materials including
catalogs and packaging
for the international
market. Although there
were some opportunities
for illustrations -
primarily for proposed
photography - she really
missed being the creative
artist.
From
playing games to being
in business
Donna then moved to
Western Massachusetts
to join Milton Bradley
Games which offered
opportunities for art
and illustration on
game boards, playing
cards, and packaging.
Soon another opportunity
was available where
she took the position
of editorial artist
at the Springfield Newspapers.
Working directly with
editors and writers,
she created illustrations
and graphic design for
a wide array of topics.
This is where she developed
her distinctive pencil
style that has evolved
into FunstrationsTM,
whimsical art and illustrations,
officially launched
in February 2004.
